:- 1.0 out of 5 stars from Betsy A. DeBry -- Woke gibberish/Not classic Colfer/Inappropriate : This story is a huge disappointment. It's not at all like the original series, which is charming fun. This "prequel" is nothing more than woke gibberish. Characters get in touch with their "feelings" and "affirm" each other. A major character, Xanthous, is clearly portrayed as gay and becomes the "King of Demons". The story got creepier and creepier as it went along. My daughter was incredibly disappointed after reading this and gives it a 1. She loved the original "Land of Stories" series. Rather than spin fantasy tales, he is using his books to push his secular social agenda. My 11 and 14 year olds agreed. Our family has enjoyed Colfier in the past. I was hoping she would extend the reading for a month but instead, she gobbled it up in 2 days. I'm thinking she didn't get much sleep -there were hints of sleep deprivation in her eyes. I’ve listened to The Land Of Stories and I really love them as well. I really love the way Chris (author) writes these stories and these characters. It’s like he’s bringing you along with him on his journey. I’m a young adult but I love middle grade books because they’re written so beautifully. This book is lovely and a must read.
